There’s a performance expected now.
Even in commercial pleasure.
We’re expected to say the right things.
Find the clues. Read the cues.
Build something that looks like intimacy.
Smile. Engage. Respond.
All the while, manufactured connection becomes choreography.
Desire becomes work.
Not everyone wants that.
Some people are tired of being pretend seen.
Tired of being evaluated.
Of being asked to show up as a version of themselves.
This isn’t that.
There’s no script here.
No chemistry to manufacture.
No expectation of reciprocity.
You don’t need to impress me.
You don’t need to lead.
You don’t need to give anything back.
You lie down.
You stop performing.
Your body takes over.
When you’re not being watched, something inside you softens.
I can feel it.
I can taste it.
When you’re not required to respond, your nervous system exhales.
I won’t sell you a girlfriend illusion.
I won’t ask you for emotional labour.
I won’t pretend this is anything more than deliberate and experienced indulgence.
If you’re done with the performance.
Done with the show.
If you simply want to be received—
Step out of the theatre.
